E Salander became an important person in the Swedish yachting community during the later part of the 20th century. Not only because of his yacht designs but much for his contribution in media and spreading the knowledge of yachting in Sweden.
E Salander was addicted to beauty in yacht design, and most of the square meter yachts he designed where perhaps not the fastest on the race course, but they where always among the most beautiful!
In 1906 Salander decided to earn his living as a full time yacht designer, however the competition was fierce at the time, with several amateur designers on the market. In 1907 he received his first order for a yacht design; it was to be the SS AEOLUS, a boat that was sold through a lottery in a yacht club.
